Rockfish fishing on the Coast Guard inspected Jim-an-i
rockfish, spot, croaker, trout, flounder
It was a great week for fishing. Most fish are in full bloom. The cell is producing a lot in the 20 inch size. My charter caught 15 and threw back 6. We caught some large croaker that we used for bait while there. The rivers both the Rappahannock and Piankatank are producing vast numbers of spot, medium croaker, flounder and mullet. Blue fish are as regular as time all you need to use is use cut bait or squid. The places to be are Cherry Point, number 5 marker and the mud hole in the Piankatank and in the Rappahannock it is The spike, Butlers Hole and the Windmill Point drop off. I like off Gwynn Island close to deep Rock but the numbers are a treasury secret. If you want spot you better have plenty of big blood worms because if you do not you are whistling in the wind this year with fish bites or other artificial.
Mackrel are there but not in real numbers many more blues this year.
Have a great day
